Vijay Krishna Acharya Biography

Born : 01 January 1968, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India

Vijay Krishna Acharya or Viktor Acharya is a television and film director, dialogue writer, screenwriter and lyricist. He did his schooling from Seth Anand Ram Jaipuria school in Kanpur and participated in school plays. He moved to Delhi at the age of 18, studied at Delhi university and tried his hand at theatre. He then moved to Bombay to try and make a career in Hindi cinema.

His wife is Anusheh Khan, filmmaker Kabir Khan’s sister.

Acharya began his film career as an assistant with director Kundan Shah during the shooting of the movie Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994). He made his debut as director with the action comedy Tashan (2008) starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor.

In 2013, he wrote and directed Dhoom 3 starring Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif. That year, Dhoom 3 became the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in international markets. It also received the inaugural Telstra People's Choice award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (2014). The film, however, is today considered by fans as the worst of the three films in the Dhoom franchise.

Acharya also wrote the dialogues for Dhoom (2004), Dhoom 2 (2006), Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006), Guru (2007), Tashan (2008) and Raavan (2010).

His television show Ramkhilavan CM and Family is alleged to caricature former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad and his family. His other shows include Public Hai Sab Jaanti Hai and Krishna Sharma CA.

He has written and directed TV shows like Just Mohabbat, Life Nahin Hai Laddoo, Son Pari, Shaka Laka Boom Boom and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. His latest movie as writer and director was the action adventure Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
