Vaishali Kendale Biography
Born :
Vaishali Vasant Kendale, a native of Amravati in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, studied media research at the deparment of communication studies, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. She is an independent filmmaker and an artiste who has worked in many National award-winning short and feature films. Some of the films that have featured Vaishali Kendale are Pistulya (2009), a short film by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Fandry (2013), a feature film by Manjule, Khwada (2015), a feature film by Bhaurao Karhade, Masuta, a film by Ajit Devle, Kastoori, a feature film by Vinod Kamble, and Postmortem, a short film by Kamble.
Postmortem won various National and international awards and was officially selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner Section in 2017.
Chasing Dreams is Kendale's debut non-fiction film. It was officially screened at more than 10 festivals throughout India, winning the Best Documentary award at the 11th Pratibimb National Short and Documentary Film Festival 2018, a Jury Special Mention at the Women’s International Short Film Festival of India in Goa, 2018, and a Special Festival Mention at the eighth Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, 2018. Her short documentary, Question Mark, won the 'YES I Am The Change' award for the year 2018.
