Siddharth Roy Kapur is one of the most prominent icons in the Indian business and film industry. A commerce graduate who acquired an MBA degree from Mumbai’s prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, he then went on to head India’s biggest production house.

Born on 2 August, 1974 to a Punjabi father Roy Kapur and the Jewish ex-Miss India Salome Roy Kapur, Siddharth is the oldest of the three siblings. His younger brothers are actors Kunaal Roy Kapur and Aditya Roy Kapur.

After completing his MBA, the young Kapur was employed with Procter and Gamble (P&G) and Star TV until 2005 in marketing leadership roles. Post that, he joined UTV as Senior Vice-President, heading the Marketing and Communications division across motion pictures, broadcasting, television, and animation.

Kapur also took charge as CEO of Motion Pictures for UTV, responsible for all aspects of creative, development, production, marketing, distribution and syndication. In this role, he has led the studio to great heights, with an unparalleled list of blockbuster films like Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Fashion (2008), Aamir (2008), A Wednesday! (2008), Dev D (2009), Kaminey (2009), Raajneeti (2010), Udaan (2010), Peepli [Live] (2010), No One Killed Jessica (2011), Delhi Belly (2011), Rowdy Rathore (2012), Barfi! (2012), and several others. He has also been the producer of many Malayalam and Tamil films.

After UTV merged with The Walt Disney Company India, Kapur was handed the responsibility of the Managing Director for the studio business.
