Shiamak Davar Biography
Born : 19 October 1961
He was born on 19th October, 1961 in a Gujarati-speaking Zoroastrian family. He is the grand nephew of Homi Wadia.
Davar was offered to choreograph for the Yash Chopra-directed film Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), which became his first Bollywood project. The dances in the film were liked immensely and he received the National Award for his work. After that, he continued to work with eminent personalities like Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai, Aamir Khan and delievered work that was accepted enthusiastically by the audience.
Hwever, Davar has worked much beyond Bollywood. He has designed, directed and even performed at international events like the Closing Ceremony of The Commonwealth Games (Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010), The World Economic Forum, Davos (2006). He has also worked with international stars like Will Smith, Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Douglas, Tom Cruise, to name a few. He has also designed and choreographed acts for international star Jermaine Jackson, music composer A. R. Rahman and almost every Bollywood super star for various projects across the world
Davar is a talented choreographer who can also sing very well. He has released two albums in the past – Dil Chahe (1999) and Mohabbat Kar Le (2006). In fact, he has also performed with Sting.
Davar started a non-profit organisation in 2000 called Victory Arts Foundation, wherein he conducts dance classes for kids who are underpriviledged, physically & mentally challenged or HIV Positive.
He recently choreographed the dance sequences for the film Mission Impossible 4 and has been working on many projects for the coming year.
