Born : 06 April 1971
In Delhi, the cute looking boy got many offers for modelling. He endorsed many brands like Nescafe, Gillette, Times of India, Nilkamal Furniture and Philishave. He also featured in some music videos.
However, it was in 1999 that Suri got his break in Bollywood with a supporting role in the movie Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi.
His performance in his debut film got him Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001), Filhaal and the musical Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002). In 2003, his performance in Pinjar, co-starring Urmila Matondkar, got positive reviews. However, when Jhankaar Beats (2003) realised, Sanjay Suri’s fanbase increased. He worked in many other films, but not all fared very well at the box office. Despite the failure of his films, his performances continued to be appreciated by the critics as well as the masses.
In 2005, he delivered a critically acclaimed performance in My Brother... Nikhil playing the character of a homosexual who is HIV Positive. The film received unanimous praise among Indian film critics. The film fared decently in Mumbai, but did not get similar response elsewhere in India.
Besides acting, Suri has also donned the hat of a producer and together with friend Onir, has worked on projects including My Brother Nikhil and Sorry Bhai!. He has worked under the banner of Anticlock Films and produced I Am (2011) which weaved together four stories on different topical issues. The movie went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi .
