Sanjay Chauhan Biography

Born : 1962, in Bhopal, India

Sanjay Chauhan has the credit of giving Indian cinema some of its most unusual stories. The screenwriter was born in Bhopal, in an Indian Railways employee’s house. His mother was a school teacher.  Young Chauhan was fascinated with the colourful stories that his grandmother would tell him. Storytelling then started interesting him.  

He began his career as a journalist after completing his studies from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi. Then he started writing stories and screenplays for television in the late 1990s. He then started writing for television series of the popular channels. After a few years of struggle, in 2003 he wrote the dialogues of the critically acclaimed film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. In the same year, he also got the offer to write dialogues for the film Dhoop. 

After the initial success of these films Chauhan continued writing scripts and dialogues for many popular films. He also wrote the dialogues and screenplay for Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara (2005). The film was critically appreciated 

His other significant works include Say Salaam India (2007), I am Kalam (2011), Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), Paan Singh Tomar (2012) and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (2013).
