Sandeep Chowta is known as the music director who composes impactful music. He is noted for his work in Bollywood, Kannada and Tollywood film industries. He was born in Ghana to author and businessman D. K. Chowta and then brought up in Nigeria and Bangalore, India. 

He began his career with Nagarjuna Akkineni-produced Telugu film Ninne Pelladutha (1996). The next year, he came to Bollywood and made a mark with his music in Dus (1997), Bhai (background score) and Insaaf: The Final Justice. In 1998, the background score composed for the movie Satya won him enthusiastic reviews. His background score for movies like Kaun (1999), Vaastav: The Reality (1999), Shool (1999), Dhadkan (2000) and Asoka (2001) made him one of the sought after music directors. His music in other movies like Mast (1999), Jungle (2000), Pyar Tune Kya Kiya (2001), Company (2002), Road (2002) and Dum (2003) too kept the audiences enthralled. 

Later, Chowta launched the ‘Sandeep Chowta Project’ in collaboration with some of his favourite artists. The group launched Matters of The Heart, a compilation of 17 tracks.

The music director is still preferred to compose background music. His more recent works include films like Bhootnath Returns (2014), Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (2013) and R... Raj Kumar (2013). 

Chowta has also been keeping busy as the Head of Columbia Records in India. He has been working on some of the fresh projects with some of the well-known directors of the industry.
