Prachi Desai first made a mark as the protagonist in Balaji Telefilms' successful TV drama Kasamh Se (2006-09). She made her foray into Hindi cinema with Abhishek Kapoor's hit musical drama Rock On!! (2008). Her performance as the wife of a former rock musician won her the Best Actress award at the Anandalok Pushkar awards and nominations at the Filmfare, Screen, Stardust and IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards. She has since played diverse roles in Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai (2010), Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan (2012), Mohit Suri's Ek Villain (2014), Tony D'Souza's Azhar (2016) and a few other films. Of all these, her performance as a gangster's girlfriend in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai remains the most remarkable. She won the Filmfare, Zee Cine, Lions Gold and Star Guild awards for this film. Desai is an acclaimed dancer and won the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Ja in 2007. Today, besides being a recognised film and TV actress, Desai is a brand ambassador for Goa Tourism.
