Prabhu Deva Prasad Sundaram, more popularly known as Prabhudheva, has made a name as one of India’s finest choreographers, and now as an actor and director too. In fact, he is the pioneer of a popular style of dance in India. Son of South Indian choreographer Mugur Sundar (popularly known as Sundaram Master), Prabhudheva was born on 3 April, 1973 in Mysore, Karnataka, but grew up in Tamil Nadu. As a child, he showed keen interest in dance and learnt Bharatanatyam and other Indian classical dances, along with Western dance techniques. The talented dancer got his first opportunity as a background dancer in the song “Rajathi Raja” in the Tamil film Agni Natchathiram (1988), at just the age of 15. However, his first project as a choreographer was Vetri Vizha (1989). Since then he has choreographed dance sequences in over 100 films, making him one of the most prolific choreographers in the industry. After acquiring immense success as a choreographer, he donned the hat of an actor. His debut film as an actor was Indhu (1994) with actress Roja. Before this, he had short appearances in solo numbers like “April Mayile” in Idhayam (1991), “Lallaku Doldapi Ma” in Suriyan (1992), “Chinna Rasave” in Walter Vetrivel (1993), and “Chikku Bukku Rayile” in Gentleman (1993). He also performed in special songs in Hindi films, like in the song “Ke Sera Sera” for the movie Pukar (2000) with Madhuri Dixit. Then Prabhudheva turned to direction. His first directorial venture was Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2004). He started off by making films in Tamil and Telugu and then Hindi. His first Hindi movie as a director was Wanted (2009), starring Salman Khan. He went on to direct more movies in all three languages.

He has also opened Prabhudheva's Dance Academy in Singapore in order to spread the art of dancing internationally. He recently appeared in the films Ek Yodha Shoorveer (2016) and ABCD 2 (2015).
