Chopra’s mother had to struggle to survive, but single-handedly managed to raise her daughters, one of which was crowned with the 2009 Femina Miss India East in Kolkata. This was just the first step towards the success that Pooja Chopra was to see. After this, she won Miss Perfect 10, Miss Catwalk, Miss Beautiful Smile, Talwarkars Best Body, and Nakshatra Miss Sparkling Beauty. This gave her direct entry into the top ten finalists of the Femina Miss India 2009. And she bagged the Pantaloons Femina Miss India-World 2009 title as well!
By the end of the same year, she was also crowned ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ at Miss World 2009 because of her charitable work in the Nanhi Kali project. As a beauty queen, she endorsed brands like Tata Docomo, Bajaj Allainz, Body & Soul, Richfeel, Roots Comb, Evolve Med Spa, and Juvederm Voluma.
Chopra’s next stop was the film industry. She debuted on the silver screen with Tamil film Ponnar Shankar (2011), where she played the role of a Princess. Written by ex-CM of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi and directed by Thiagarajan. In Bollywood, she started off playing minor roles in Madhur Bhandarkar's films Fashion (2008) and Heroine (2012). The charming model-turned-actress then bagged the lead role in action film Commando (2013). Her performance in the film was also noticed by some of the eminent directors of the industry.
As of now, Chopra has been working with some of the well-known directors of the industry.
