Parineeti Chopra Biography
Born : 22 October 1988, in Ambala, Haryana, India
Height: 5' 6″ (1.7 m)
She is the cousin of the famous actress Priyanka Chopra. Parineeti received her education at the Convent
of Jesus and Mary in Ambala Cantonment. At the age of 17, she moved to London where she finished
her further education and received a triple honours degree in business, finance and economics from the
Manchester Business School.
Parineeti returned to India in the year 2009 during the wake of recession and decided to live with
Priyanka Chopra in Mumbai. During her time in Mumbai, Priyanka introduced her to the head of the
public relations team of Yash Raj Films and Parineeti obtained an internship in the marketing department.
Ironically, Parineeti never had any interest in acting and to her this profession seemed like a perfect
excuse to wear more makeup. However, with time, her perception changed and she started to understand
the profession and take a keen interest in it.
While working on the promotions for Band Baaja Baarat (2010), she realized that she wanted to become
an actor and decided to attend acting school. Parineeti Chopra’s career took an incredible leap after
director Maneesh Sharma spotted her talent and cast her for Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011), and her
performance was applauded by many film critics. This film earned her many awards including the
Filmfare Award, the Screen Award, the Apsara Award and the IIFA Award for Best Debut. She also
received nominations in the supporting category and won the Apsara and the IIFA awards for the Best
Supporting Actress.
Chopra’s second release was Habib Faisal’s romantic drama Ishaqzaada (2011) opposite Arjun Kapoor.
She dazzled in this intense and complex role and received widespread acclaim.
In the year 2013, she collaborated for the second time with Maneesh Sharma, and appeared alongside
Sushant Singh Rajput and Vaani Kapoor in the romantic comedy drama Suddh Desi Romance. After this
film, Parineeti received a very positive feedback from critics, especially for her portrayal of a rebellious
girl. Chopra’s first step out from the Yash Raj banner was a 2014 film Hasee Toh Phasee directed by
Vinil Matthew and jointly produced by Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar. She appeared alongside
Siddharth Malhotra and Adah Sharma in the film. She then appeared in Habib Faisal’s social romantic
comedy Dawat-e-ishq (2014), which discussed the issue of dowry.
As of her 2014 plans, Parineeti has several projects in hand and has signed Illuminati Film’s next
production to be directed by Dinesh Vijan opposite Saif Ali Khan."
