Manoj Tyagi Biography

Born : 1974

Manoj Tyagi is the name behind some hard hitting & realistic cinema. This well-known Screenwriter & Director was born in the year 1974 in Delhi. With an MBA degree, he was earlier employed with big corporates like Xerox, Canon and ABN AMRO Bank.  He shifted base to Mumbai in 2002 and continued working in the corporate world until 2003, when he got an opportunity to work on the screenplay for the film Satta, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. 

He then wrote the screenplay for the film Agni Pankh (2004), which was based on the true story of an Air Force Personal in Jammu & Kashmir. In the year 2005, Tyagi wrote screenplays for three hit films - Page 3 (won a National Award), Apharaan and Ek Ajnabee. He bagged a Filmfare Award and Silver Lotus Award for Best Screenplay for Page 3. He continued to showcase his screenwriter capabilities with Taxi No. 9211 (2006) and Corporate (2006). 

After this, he was a screenwriter for a few movies that did not do well at the box office - Red: The Dark Side (2007), Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi (2007) Victoria No 203: Diamonds are Forever (2007) and his directorial debut Mumbai Salsa (2007). He also wrote the screenplay for Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer Jail (2009).  

Tyagi has also written the scripts for two films – Heroine (2012) and Inkaar (2013). Both the films opened to positive and mixed reviews. The story of both the films was appreciated by some of the eminent directors of the industry.
