Eccentric actor, writer and director Makrand Deshpande was born on 6th March 1966. He is a popular face in Hindi and Marathi cinema, but has also contributed to Telugu and Malyalam cinema. He is also a popular theatre personality, owning a theatre company Ansh. In Bollywood, even in supporting roles, he has delivered impactful performances in hit movies like Sarfarosh (1999), Jungle (2000), Makdee (2002), Swades (2004), and Darna Zaroori Hai (2006), to name a few. 

He has donned the hat of a director for 5 films - Danav (2003), Hanan (2004), Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu (2010), Sona Spa (2013) and Saturday Sunday (2014). He is most active in theatre and has written 35 full length plays and over 12 short plays.
