The charming Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla was born in Ambala, Haryana to an army family on 13 November 1967. She completed her schooling from Fort Convent School, Mumbai and then graduated from Sydenham College, Mumbai. Right after graduation, she entered the Miss India Pageant and bagged the title of Miss India 1984. The Hindi film industry took notice of Chawla and she was offered
Sultanat (1986) which was her debut performance. She also acted in Kannada classic
Premaloka (1987) directed by Ravichandran. Her first major lead in Hindi cinema was in
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), in which she starred with newcomer Aamir Khan. The film was a huge success critically and commercially, and took both their careers forward. This film won her the Filmfare Award for the New Face of the Year as well. The two became a very popular pairing of the 90s with their natural chemistry. Some of their acclaimed films include

Chawla also decided to pursue more paths in the film industry, and is the co-owner of a production company called Dreamz Unlimited with Shah Rukh Khan and director Aziz Mirza. The first two films where she acted as producer under the banner of this production company were
Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) and
Asoka (2001).
Chalte Chalte (2003), the third film by the production company was its first success.
The cheerful actress-turned-producer has also been a judge for the third season of the celebrity dance show
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa along with Saroj Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant.
Juhi Chawla is an active participant in the domain of humanitarian causes and has taken up many endeavours to promote various causes, in particular the dangers of radiation emitted by mobile tower antennae. For this effort, she was felicitated with the Indira Gandhi Memorial Award in Social Awareness. She also purchased the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL Cricket Team in collaboration with her close friend, Shah Rukh Khan.
In 1988, Juhi Chawla married the multi-millionaire industrialist, Jai Mehta. They have two children together.
