Jugal Hansraj Biography

Charming light-eyed actor Jugal Hansraj was born on 26th July, 1972. His innocent and cute looks gave him an entry into Bollywood as a child itself. As a child actor in ‘Masoom’ (1983), with Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi as the lead pair, he won many hearts and grabbed other filmmakers’ attention. 

After this, he was cast as a child actor in many movies like Karma (1986) and Sultanat (1986). He also modelled for TV and print advertisements as a child; some of the memorable ones include Vicks Vaporub and Saffola.

His first film as the male protagonist was ‘Aa Gale Lag Jaa’ (1994), opposite Urmila Matondkar, who had played his step-sister in Masoom. His second film ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ (1995) made him desirable to young girls. In the multi-starrer film Mohabbatein (2000), he shared screen space with Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. He played supporting roles in movies after this. 

Hansraj also turned writer and director for computer-animated film Roadside Romeo (2008), which was jointly produced by Yash Raj Films and Walt Disney Studios. His second directorial venture was romantic comedy ‘Pyaar Impossible’ (2010), starring Priyanka Chopra and Uday Chopra, produced by Yash Raj Films. Hansraj joined Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions as the Head of Creative Development in 2014.
