Jackky Bhagnani

Actor Jackky Bhagnani was born to Producer Vashu Bhagnani on 25th December, 1984 in Kolkata. He did his schooling from St Teresa’s High School and moved to Mumbai to acquire a degree in Commerce from the H R College of Commerce and Economics.

The young Bhagnani began his Bollywood career as an assistant producer for Out of Control (2003), and went on to work for Shaadi No. 1 (2005) and Silsilay (2005). His first film was Kisne Kisko Dekha (2009) produced by father Vashu Bhagnani. For this film, Jackky Bhagnani had to go through a major weight loss programme, and shed almost 60 kilograms in two years. The film had mixed reviews, but his performance in the film was noticed by many critics and eminent directors in the industry. It won him the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Award, Apsara Award and Star Guild Award for the best male debut performance.

In the year 2011, his portrayal of a weak student in the film F.A.L.T.U. (2011), which was based on the Indian educational system, was well received. However, the film’s performance at the box-office was average. Bhagnani was also the lead in Ajab Gazabb Love (2012). This film too opened to mixed reviews.

He went on to appear in the critically acclaimed Rangrezz (2013), however, it did not make much of an impact in the box office. Yet, it is considered one of his best works to date, in particular, his dance performance to the super hit song “Gangnam Style” by PSY.

After that, Jackky Bhagnani performed in Youngistaan (2014) and Welcome to Karachi (2015), both of which did not fare too well.

All of Jackky Bhagnani’s films were produced by his father, making them a strong father-son duo in the film industry. He recently decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and is producing his first film Sarbjit (2016) which is due for release later this year.
