Music director and actor Himesh Reshammiya was born in Gujarat on 23 July, 1973. He moved to Mumbai to complete his schooling at the Hill Grange School. He began his career with the H R Enterprises production house which produced a few daily television soaps on Doordarshan Ahmedabad and Zee TV at that time. With his father Vipin Reshammiya as a veteran music composer himself, Himesh Reshammiya found himself a place in the industry with ease. Not to mention his preference for the electronic music genre and catchy beats that added to his mass appeal.

Reshammiya's first big break in his musical career came with the film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1988). He composed the music for this film along with composers Jatin & Lalit, and Sajid & Wajid. After the initial success, he composed music for several major films. As a music director, he witnessed success with Tere Naam (2003), the romantic thriller starring Salman Khan. Maine Pyar Kyu Kiya (2005), Body Guard (2011) and Kick (2014) are some of the other films that propelled his popularity, all of which starred Salman Khan.

After making a place for himself as a music director, he tried his hand at playback singing with Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005) and found immense success here as well, and won the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for it. The masses loved and encouraged his innovative style of composing music, which was mostly a blend of Western and Indian classical music with techno beats. As a singer, he delivered hit songs like “Tera Suroor”, “Zara Jhoom Jhoom” and “Tanhaiyan”. The characteristic nasal twang in his songs seemed to have amassed him quite a fan following.

Experiencing immense popularity as a singer as well, Reshammiya now donned the hat of an actor. His debut film as an actor Aap Kaa Surroor (2007) did fairly well in the box office. He played a supporting role in Khiladi 786 (2012) which was also acclaimed and won him the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2013, he produced and acted in The Xpose (2014), which opened to positive reviews and received praise from many well-known producers of the industry.  His recent film Teraa Surroor (2016), a sequel to Aap Kaa Surroor (2007) also did well in the box office and gained appreciation from critics.

Besides acting, Reshammiya has actively been involved in judging singing competitions on television such as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge, Sur Kshetra and The Voice India.
