Faisal Khan Biography
Born :
As a young adult, Khan made an appearance once again in Nasir Hussain’s film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which starred the former’s elder brother Aamir Khan. Soon after, he ventured into direction and production, working with his father Tahir Hussain on Tum Mere Ho (1990), which also featured his brother in the lead role. Two years later, he made another small appearance on screen in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), directed by his cousin Mansoor Khan.
Faisal Khan took on his first lead role under the direction of Vikram Bhatt, with his father’s production Madhosh (1994). The film was not successful, and Khan’s career in the film industry remained relatively sporadic. He appeared in a handful of films over the next decade, including Dharmesh Darshan’s Mela (2000), Yogesh Bhardwaj’s Border Hindustan Ka (2003), and Sharique Minhaj’s Chand Bujh Gaya (2005). He also acted in Zee TV’s serial Aandhi (2003), in which he played one of the lead roles.
He was also seen in a small supporting role in Bhindi Baazaar (2011). Apart from that, Khan has not been seen much in any later releases. He stated in an interview that he aspired to get back in the realm of filmmaking with writing and directing, as well production.
In 2007, Khan was diagnosed with a mental disorder, resulting in a case between his father and brother Aamir Khan over his custody. He was entrusted to the care of his father Tahir Hussain, until the latter’s death in 2010.
Though he has not returned to the film industry since his diagnosis, he is reportedly doing well. Aamir Khan has remarked upon how the two of them help and work with each other, with Faisal Khan reading many of the scripts Aamir Khan receives, and advising him on his projects.
