Amy Jackson

Fashion model and Indian film actress Amy Jackson was born as Amy Louise Jackson in the Isle of Man, United Kingdom to English parents. Jackson joined St Edward's College, gaining ten GCSEs, and then went to sixth form to study a number of subjects. It was after her success at the Miss Teen Liverpool and Miss Teen Great Britain pageants, that she won the title of Miss Teen World in 2009.

The next year, Jackson auditioned for the Tamil period-drama film Madrasapattinam (2010). Despite a lack of acting experience, the director was impressed with her and gave her the female lead role opposite Arya. The film is set in India in 1947 and the story is that of a British Governor’s daughter falling in love with a village boy. The film was well received at the box office, and it actually went on to become the one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year. Jackson received praise for her performance and also received a nomination for the Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress for her role in the film.

Then Jackson made her debut in Hindi film with Ekk Deewana Tha (2012), opposite Prateik Babbar. The film did not fare well critically or commercially, but this didn’t stop Amy Jackson from making her mark in the film industry.

Jackson also made her debut in Telugu cinema with the Vamsi Paidipally film Yevadu (2014) alongside Ram Charan and Shruti Haasan.

She then went on to star the female lead as a super model in Shankar's romantic thriller film I (2015), her biggest project so far. The making of the magnum opus, took over two and a half years, with a major part of the film being shot in China. The film was released on January 2015 to mixed critical responses, although Jackson's performance received good reviews.

Jackson also featured in the Hindi film Singh is Bliing (2015), opposite Akshay Kumar. It opened to mixed reviews, but was appreciated as a fine comedy.
