Amit Trivedi

Talented Indian music director Amit Trivedi was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In his childhood days, Trivedi was drawn towards Indian music and was influenced by classical music. At a very early age he began composing songs. While still in college, he teamed up with a band called Om who performed at local gigs and small shows. The band gave him the much needed exposure when Times Music took note of them at one of their shows and offered to launch their album. Trivedi’s fresh compositions were appreciated and after his initial success, Trivedi went on to compose for plays, background music for television shows, live performances and orchestras, amongst many more.

After a few years of struggling, Arvind Vishwakarma, the owner of Audio Garage Recording Studio introduced Trivedi to Sony BMG and thereafter Trivedi started composing music for non-film music albums. As part of his two-year contract, Trivedi composed some tracks for Abhijeet Sawant's album Junoon and one song in Prashant Tamang's debut album.

Trivedi eventually came into the limelight, when playback singer Shilpa Rao recommended his name to film director Anurag Kashyap. Kashyap gave him the chance to compose the soundtrack of the film Dev.D (2009). The film won him the 2010 National Film Award for Best Music. Kashyap also referred him to Raj Kumar Gupta, who signed Trivedi for his directorial venture Aamir (2008). Trivedi and Gupta worked on making the soundtrack fuse with the plot of the film, resulting in an effort that received critical recognition.

After his initial success in the industry Trivedi wrote the scores for Wake Up Sid (2009). The catchy numbers were an instant hit. Trivedi has composed the music for a number of films including Aisha (2010), Ishaqzaade (2012), English Vinglish (2012), Lootera (2013), and Queen (2014) which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.

In recent times he has been music director for superhit films like Bombay Velvet (2015), Highway (2015), Fitoor (2016) and Udta Punjab (2016).

Amit Trivedi has always been producing different toned music and believed in venturing different genres. He has often teamed up with lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya who is known for his thoughtful expressions in multiple languages, particularly Hindi and Urdu.
