Alia Bhatt is an upcoming Hindi film actress, and is one of the most prominent youth icons in the country today. She comes from the illustrious film family of the Bhatts. Her father is the renowned director Mahesh Bhatt and her mother is Soni Razdan. She also has one sister, Shaheen Bhatt, and two half-siblings, Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt. The young actress was born on 15 March 1993 and raised in Mumbai, where she completed her schooling from the Jamnabai Narsee School.

Alia Bhatt’s first appearance on screen was as a child artist in the film Sangharsh (1999). She then made her adult debut with the lead role in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year (2012) co-starring Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra. Her peppy and vibrant performance gained her much appreciation even if the film was not critically acclaimed. It earned her several nominations and also got her the Lions Gold Award for Favourite Debut.

But it was her next film, Highway (2014), that allowed her to truly express her skills as an actress and establish her place amongst many of the iconic figures in the industry. The challenging role was critically much appreciated and won her the Stardust Award for the Superstar of Tomorrow as well as the Filmfare Critics Award for the Best Actress.

After that, she appeared in two romantic comedies, 2 States (2014) and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), once again delivering great performances in a light-hearted role. In 2015, she played the lead role in Shaandaar (2015), which was not a box office success. She next acted in Kapoor and Sons (2016), a family drama, which was yet another success in her works.

Alia Bhatt is all set to once again appear in a challenging role in the film Udta Punjab (2016) which centres around drug abuse amongst the Punjabi youth.

Bhatt is also a talented singer and has been the playback singer for two songs in her films. She is also a fashionista who started her own clothing line which is available on the online shopping portal, Jabong.
