Shot in New Jersey in the US, the film features Kher and Gupta as an older Indian couple who take a road trip through middle America and discover that it is not too late to reinvent themselves.
The bright poster features an image of Gupta and Kher by the side of the road, where Kher is asking for a lift and Gupta is sitting down beside her luggage. Sitting alongside them is a pug.
They are also standing at the edge of a farm, complete with cows in the background. The vivid colours on the poster are striking and the motif of travel is evident in the mise-en-scene.
Shiv Shastri Balboa also stars Nargis Fakhri, Jugal Hansraj and Sharib Hashmi.
Hansraj, who made his debut as a child artiste with Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom (1983), was last seen in Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh (2016). He completed his portions on the film in August last year.
Ajayan Venugopalan, who began his career in cinema as a screenwriter for Malayalam films, will make his Hindi feature debut with the film. Gupta, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of her film Goodbye (2022), which will release on 7 October.
Produced by Kishore Varieth, Shiv Shastri Balboa has been shot by Joshua Ausley. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
