Delhi Crime (Season 2) review: Measured, compelling procedural that matches its stellar first season

Joining the acclaimed show for its new season is award-winning actress Tillotama Shome who plays Lata, a woman who aspires a better life and will go to any length to achieve her dreams. She is part of a ruthless gang of serial killers who go on an rampant spree of targeting senior citizens stating ‘Yeh dilli shehar hai madam ji, yahan maang ke nahi milta na, toh chheen ke leni padti hai’.

Speaking about getting into character, Shome shared, “The place where my character comes from, it's from the ‘have-not’ section. She is a dreamer and she will do whatever needs to be done for her dreams to come true. You and I can judge her for it but she doesn’t care for your approval.”

She continued, “She is very intelligent and smart but is also a very sensitive girl. She is mostly cut down because she is poor. In order to understand her and find the reason as to why she does what she does, I only had to find one that one thing to connect with Lata - it was the dreams that she envisioned with so much innocence.”

“It's actually a very thin line between being a criminal and being innocent,” she explained. “For Lata, because her identity was not accepted, it was given that there would be friction. It's a peek into the mind of a criminal and what you see there when the gap between the haves and have nots just keeps exceeding.”

Produced by SK Global Entertainment, Golden Karavan and Film Karavan, the true crime series is based on a chapter Moon Gazer from the book Khaki Files written by Neeraj Kumar. The new season is helmed by showrunner and director Tanuj Chopra.
