On the occasion of Teachers' Day (5 September), Maddock Films has announced its upcoming social thriller, Happy Teachers' Day (2023), starring Nimrat Kaur and Radhika Madan.
The film, directed by Mikhil Musale, will be released a year later on 5 September 2023 for Teachers' Day.
Nimrat Kaur shared the announcement revealing that the film shoot also begins today.
Although most of the film’s details have not been unveiled yet, the video foregrounds teachers as being pillars and sculptures of society. The short clip is set in a classroom and states that teachers educate, enlighten, empower, and shape our lives.
However, it leaves us with a thought-provoking questioning note and asks, "But can’t they have a life?” One also sees glimpses of what seems to be a social media backlash on a teacher, who is seen as not being fit to carry on with the profession.
Written by Mikhil Musale and Parinda Joshi, Happy Teachers' Day is produced by Dinesh Vijan.
Musale made his directorial debut with the Gujarati-language thriller Wrong Side Raju (2016) which won the National award for Best Feature Film in Gujarati. He made his Hindi-language debut with Made in China (2019).
Maddock Films has produced several critically and commercially acclaimed films such as Badlapur (2015), Hindi Medium (2017) and Stree (2018), as well as the recent social-comedy-dramas like Mimi (2021) and Dasvi (2022).
Madan previously starred in the Maddock Films production Angrezi Medium (2020), while Kaur featured in the recent feature Dasvi, which premiered on Netflix and JioCinema.
