The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and various cinema chains across India will celebrate National Cinema Day on Friday, 16 September, by reducing their ticket prices for the day. As part of the celebrations, the audiences will get to watch all films that day for just Rs75, irrespective of the show timings.

Some of the multiplex chains that have supported the cause include PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Carnival, Miraj, Citypride, Asian Cinemas, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K, and Delite.

A statement from the MAI said, “National Cinema Day will bring together audiences of all ages to enjoy a day at the movies. National Cinema Day celebrates the successful reopening of cinemas and is a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers who made this happen. National Cinema Day is also an invitation to those moviegoers who haven’t made it back to the cinema near them yet.”

MAI also claimed that the business for multiplexes was impressive in the first quarter of the fiscal year. “The quarter was marked by the release of some of the biggest domestic hits like KGF: Chapter 2 (2022), RRR (2022), Vikram (2022), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), and Hollywood hits such as Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness (2022) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022),” the statement added.
