IDSFFK 2022: Geetika Narang Abbasi’s Urf and Naveen Mu’s Little Wings bag top awards

My Son and His Grandfather, New Classroom shared the Best Short Documentary and The Bouyant wins Best Campus Film. 

Geetika Narang Abbasi’s Urf (AKA) and Naveen Mu’s Little Wings emerged as the top winners at the recently concluded 14th International Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK). The former won the Best Long Documentary award, while Little Wings won the award for the Best Short Film.

The jury, led by documentary filmmaker Anjali Monteiro, decided upon the honours. The chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, was on hand to honour the winners.

The Best Short Documentary award was shared between My Son and His Grandfather and New Classroom, directed by Bengali filmmakers Bijoy Choudhury and Debankon Singh Solanky respectively.

The Second Best Long Documentary award was won by Ladies Only, directed by Rebana Liz John and the Second Best Short Documentary award went to the Hindi film Party Poster. The Leopard's Tribe by Miriam Chandy Menacherry won Special Mention.

Pradipp Kurbah's Path bagged the Second Best Film in the Short Fiction category, and the Malayalam-language film Tommyude Upama (The Parable Of Tommy) by Vimal Jose Thavhil won a Special Mention in this category.

The Bouyant directed by Arun AR, Akhilesh KA and Ananthu Krishna won the award for the Best Campus Film.

Milind Chhabra, Jyoti Garhewal Lazar and Shobhit Jain received the Kumar Talkies award for the Best Editing in a Long Documentary for their film P Se Pyaaz, P Se Paisa, P Se Paani. The award was instituted by editor Pankaj Rishikumar in memory of his father Rishi Kumar.

The films Labyrinth by Abhinav T Rajeevkumar and Thirivu (Turn) by Sharika P Prasad also received a Special Mention in this category.

The festival, organised by the Kerala Chalachitra Academy, was held from 26-31 August in Thiruvananthapuram.
