Thank God song ‘Manike’: Nora Fatehi, Sidharth Malhotra make all the right moves in this seductive number

The first song from Indra Kumar's Thank God (2022) ‘Manike’ is sung by Yohani, Jubin Nautiyal and Surya Ragunnathan. The song is taken from the original Sri Lankan Sinhala-language song that was sung by Yohani and Satheeshan Rathnayaka.

Recreated by Tanishk Bagchi, the lyrics are penned by Rashmi Virag and additional rap lyrics are by Mellow D.

The trailer of Indra Kumar’s upcoming film Thank God (2022), was released earlier this month and has generated quite a buzz. Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, the film features Devgn playing the role of lord Chitragupt, who assesses Malhotra's life after he is in a car accident.

The song video begins with Devgn telling Malhotra that lust is something that affects all men and needs to be controlled. We then see Fatehi dancing seductively and Malhotra being attracted towards her. The track then shifts to a jungle inspired theme. As the two of them are dancing, Devgn appears in front of Malhotra but it seems like he is the only one who can see him and not Fatehi.

Everyone is dressed in white and the background, together with the dancers, looks ethereal. The choreography is slow and alluring, in keeping with the theme of the song. The sets are lavishly constructed, keeping with the dream-like, romantic context of the song. Fatehi looks stunning and aces her choreography.

Yohani's sensual voice, together with the lilting music, tells us why the original song had become a viral sensation. The re-worked catchy song is sure to make waves once again.

Malhotra spoke about the theme of the song and said, “[The song] is a perfect fit in the film where my character is stuck between lust and what is right. I really hope audiences enjoy it as much as we did while shooting it.”

Fatehi spoke about her experience shooting for the song and shared, “[It's] an exceptional song and I had a great time collaborating with the entire team. From the visuals to the tempo and the choreography, I am excited to see how the audiences react to this one!"

Singer Yohani spoke about reworking her original hit for the movie. The Sri Lankan singer said, “The opportunity to rework this song with T-Series for the movie Thank God is an honour and is an immeasurable highlight in my career. I have always been a fan of Tanishk Bagchi’s music and it was a dream come true to collaborate with him. Jubin undoubtedly is one of the most talented and coolest musicians I've had the pleasure of working with.”

Nautiyal added, “'Manike' is one of my favourite songs. Yohani is incredibly talented and Tanishk has added his blockbuster touch to it. To add to it we will see two extremely hot actors Sidharth Malhotra and Nora Fatehi creating magic with their moves.”
