Maa Da Ladla song ‘Punjab Jeha’: Hip-hop inspired track captures a couple constructing their romance

Singers Wazir Patar and Kiran Sandhu highlight the chemistry between Neeru Bajwa and Tarsem Jassar

Punjabi singer-actor Tarsem Jassar is all set to hit the screens with his Uda Aida (2019) co-star Neeru Bajwa in the upcoming romantic comedy, Maa Da Ladla (2022), which will be releasing in theatres this week on 19 September.

The trailer of the film was released earlier this month and the latest song to be shared from the film is ‘Punjab Jeha’. Sung by Wazir Patar, with female vocals by Kiran Sandhu, the lyrics are by Jassar, and music and mix by Patar as well.

The film features a unique story of Bajwa as a single mother trying to recruit a father for her son, who feels the absence of one in his life. The song features the couple trying to create a convincing romance in front of their young son, who seems to have his doubts about the authenticity of his father and the relationship that Bajwa and Jassar share.

We see the couple sitting and acting happy and vivacious in front of the son. But the young boy does not seem convinced. Later, when he seems to chance upon them and sees them having a good time together, he feels happy but he does not realise that it is all an act. At the end of the video, we see the three of them as being a picture-perfect happy family.

The hip-hop inspired track is a perfect backdrop to the suave actors, who are stylishly dressed throughout. The beats, melding with Patar’s voice, with a hint of rusticity, embodies the couple. Jassar, on the other hand, is the more closer to his roots, while Bajwa plays the modern woman, inspired by Western ideals.

Directed by Uday Pratap Singh, the film is written by Jagdeep Warring and presented by Vehli Janta Films and Omjee Star Studios.
