Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022) has emerged as a ray of hope in what was a disastrous year before its release. The original Hindi version of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer opened at a huge Rs31 crore nett and followed it up with Rs35 crore nett on Saturday

Continuing with its upward trajectory, the movie, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, earned an impressive Rs38.50 crore nett on Sunday, as per figures shared by the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Additionally, Brahmastra made Rs13.50 crore nett in its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. This takes its overall total in just three days to a mammoth Rs118 crore nett.

Although these are the highest weekend numbers for any Hindi film this year, it’s considerably less than the film’s mammoth budget, which as per our trade sources, is around Rs400 crore. The movie has been in production for the last seven years, with costs increasing rapidly through the delays.

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva review – Ranbir Kapoor’s superhero film suffers from second half syndrome

Produced by Star Studios and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is about a man named Shiva (Kapoor) who possesses superhuman qualities linked to an ancient secret to the deadly weapon Brahmastra.

More than a handful of Hindi films are scheduled to release on Friday. However, as all of them are too small and mostly unknown to the masses, they are not expected to have any major impact on the box office journey of Brahmastra.
