After making her digital debut with the acclaimed Disney+ Hotstar series Aarya, Sushmita Sen is heading back to films.
Sen will be the lead in the yet untitled biopic whose rights have been acquired by Mansi Bagla of Mini Films and photographer Subi Samuel’s banner Bungalow No 84. The first ever co-production between the two banners will be joined by Soham Rockstar Entertainment.
The film is already under pre-production and is expected to begin filming by the end of this year.
Producer Bagla shared, “I wanted to make a big announcement after Forensic (2022) and this timing is just perfect. This is my birthday gift to myself. Who better than Sushmita Sen to play this role? [And] more details on the biopic coming up soon. The day I met Sushmita, I was spellbound by her aura and I can say it now with all my heart, this film will be a superhit.”
Samuel added, “I met Mansi through a common friend and our passion for cinema and stories has culminated into bringing this film into life. I am excited to begin this new journey with two of the most powerful women I've met in the industry by far. Sushmita is a brilliant actress and is apt for the biopic and Mansi whose drive and passion towards filmmaking inspired me to explore it myself.”
According to the makers, Sen’s character will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar, with multiple shades. She last appeared in the Bengali feature Nirbaak (2015) directed by Srijit Mukherji.
