Actor Kunal Kemmu is all set to turn a director and writer with the upcoming movie Madgaon Express. The film will be produced under Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment.
The news was shared by the veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh online. The makers have also revealed the title logo of the movie along with the announcement. The title font appears in brown and orange which are smartly used in the announcement poster. The look of the logo gives a hint that the film might either be a mystery drama or a thriller. Madgaon is also a city in Goa; it likely the story might be set there.

Sharing his happiness at making his debut as a writer and director, Kemmu posted on Instagram, "Ganpati Bappa Moriya! As all good things begin with his [lord's] name I can’t think of a better day to share this with all of you. It started with a thought in my head, which grew into a dream which flowed out through my fingers into words on my laptop, and now it is becoming a reality on its way to the silver screen."
Thanking his producers, he added, "A big thank you to Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Rucha Pathak for believing in my script and my vision and partnering with me on this exciting journey in the world of cinema."
Madgaon Express will be the first association between Kemmu and Excel Entertainment. He has never worked with the production house as an actor in his 17-year-old career.
Kemmu started off as a child artiste in Mahesh Bhatt’s productions Sir (1993), Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) and Naaraaz (1994). He later made his debut as a lead actor with the Bhatt-produced film Kalyug (2005), which co-starred Smilie Suri and Emraan Hashmi.
The actor’s last movie was Lootcase (2020) which had premiered on Disney+ Hotstar.
