The residents of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh, are back as the trailer for the second season of Panchayat shows most of the old gang together again for new hijinks, while new faces pose new challenges.
Panchayat review: Wonderful slice-of-life series that tackles village life and politics
In Season 1, Abhishek Tripathi arrived in Phulera as a secretary to handle panchayat affairs. A year later, he is still stuck there in a place where not much happens, but things are looking up for him as far as his friendship (and possible romance) with the pradhan’s daughter Rinky and his upcoming CAT exam, which he hopes will change his future, go.
The new season, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar, takes its characters through new issues that crop up, from the construction of a new toilet to a proper road, all for the betterment of the villagers.
The pradhan and pradhan pati (Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav) also face political opposition as another frustrated couple (Durgesh Kumar and Sunita Rajwar) decide to take them on. Will the gang survive this new bout of politics? The new season will let us know.
Created by The Viral Fever, Panchayat also stars Faisal Malik and Chandan Roy. The Amazon Prime Video series is due to be premiered on 20 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to see the series.
