Box office – KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) holds steady, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness makes good opening

The two Hindi films that were released last week, Runway 34 (2022) and Heropanti (2022), just about crossed Rs23 crore nett after eight days in theatres.

The Hindi version of KGF: Chapter 2 (2022), starring Yash, held steady on its fourth Friday in cinemas, collecting Rs3.75 crore nett, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The period film, directed by Prashanth Neel, has earned Rs391 crore nett so far. It surpassed Dangal (2016), starring Aamir Khan, as the highest Hindi grosser earlier this week.

KGF: Chapter 2 goes up against the Hollywood film Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, this weekend. The Marvel sequel opened well with a collection of around Rs28 crore nett on Friday, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The collection is about 15% lower than that of the previous Marvel film, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which was released last December, but the film could grow over the coming week. There is also curiosity among film buffs as the trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of The Water (2022) is attached ahead of the feature.

Meanwhile, the Hindi films that were released last week, Ajay Devgn's Runway 34 (2022) and Tiger Shroff's Heropanti (2022), barely went past Rs23 crore nett each after eight days in cinemas, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The action thriller Runway 34, directed by Devgan himself, earned only Rs1 crore nett on its second Friday, taking its total collection to Rs23.35 crore nett. The film, which was made on a budget of around Rs65 crore, may reach Rs30 crore over the coming week.

Its competitor, Heropanti 2, directed by Ahmed Khan, only made Rs25 lakh nett on Friday, taking its overall collection to Rs23.25 crore nett. The action film, co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has failed to sustain itself over the first week.
