The box office fates of Heropanti 2 and Runway 34 were sealed on their first weekend itself. The Tiger Shroff-starrer and the Ajay Devgn movie had also failed to capitalize on the Eid holiday on Tuesday.
In their first week, Heropanti 2 and Runway 34 made Rs23 crore and Rs22.35 crore respectively, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com. As per sources, the films were made on respective budgets of Rs70 crore and Rs65 crore.
Meanwhile, the non-performance of the Hindi films has continued to benefit the Hindi version of Prashanth Neel’s Kannada movie KGF: Chapter 2. The Yash-starrer earned a mammoth Rs9 crore on Eid, which was its third Tuesday. The film went on mint Rs8 crore and Rs6.25 crore on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
As a matter of fact, the Hindi version of KGF: Chapter 2 has so far collected Rs387.55 crore, dethroning the former highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, the Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal (2016), which ended its journey at Rs374.53 crore.
As far as dubbed Hindi films are concerned, Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017) is the highest-grosser at Rs510.56 crore. This is one record KGF: Chapter 2 is not going to break. But it is on course to enter the Rs400 crore club.
The keenly awaited Hollywood superhero movie Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness — the 28th instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — was released today in India. The Sam Raimi film has registered tremendous advance booking numbers and, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com, is expected to open at Rs30 crore today.
