Two Sisters And A Husband teaser: An unsettling love triangle

Shlok Sharma’s Two Sisters And A Husband gives us a glimpse into the tense, complicated relationship between a married couple — Tara (Avani Rai) and Rajat (Dinker Sharma) — and the wife’s younger sister Amrita (Manya Grover) who is impregnated by her husband.

The Hindi film is being premiered at the upcoming Tribeca Festival this June in the International Narrative section. It’s the only Indian film in competition at the festival and is Sharma’s third feature after Haraamkhor (2017) and Zoo (2018).

The teaser, featuring Rai, Dinker Sharma and Grover, looks at the complex story of two sisters who are bound together with one man. It also shows how the trio attempts to protect themselves and their relationship once it becomes evident that Amrita is pregnant. But Two Sisters And A Husband indicates a darker relationship between Amrita and Rajat, as some intense scenes show blood after their interactions.

Shlok has co-written the film with Shilpa Srivastava. The feature has been produced by Fundamental Pictures, along with his partner Navin Shetty, and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Shlok was also the second unit director of Anurag Kashyap’s landmark film Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012).

Speaking about the teaser, Shlok said, ‘The film is catching these characters at a particular time in their lives and then seeing them through it. And in the teaser, the idea is for people to see the tip of the iceberg.”
