The poster of Tamasha Live and its promotional song ‘Naandi’ indicated that the film is based on the titular traditional form of Marathi theatre. But the teaser of the Sanjay Jadhav-directed film reveals that the movie is actually about the television media of today’s times.
Apart from depicting the murder or suicide of a young woman, who falls from a high-rise building, the basic plot has been kept under wraps, which is a good thing. The footage introduces us to a few characters from the ensemble cast.
Sonalee Kulkarni and Sachit Patil play journalists cum anchors Shefali and Ashwin. Going by their lines in the teaser, it is clear that they are viewership-hungry and are always chasing stories that will help them achieve their goal. In one scene, Ashwin is seen covering what looks like the recreation of Anna Hazare’s hunger strike of 2011.
In between, the artistes are shown performing dance moves. This looks like a metaphor to justify the title.
The teaser also introduces us to a couple of other actors. Siddharth Jadhav plays an intelligent autorickshaw or taxi driver, going by his attire. But later he is also seen working with both Kulkarni and Patil in their respective offices. Hemangi Kavi Dhumal plays Jadhav's friend.
Produced by Planet Marathi, Tamasha Live also stars Bharat Jadhav, Nagesh Bhosale, Mrunal Deshpande, Yogesh Soman, Pushkar Jog and Manmeet Pem.
The film will be released in theatres on 24 June.
Check out the teaser and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
