Director Vivek Rajendra Dubey’s Marathi movie Funral revolves around a young man (Aroh Welankar) and his three friends who realize that in today’s times a person can have thousands of virtual friends but they would have hardly a few well-wishers turning up at their funeral. The quartet then decides to make a business out of the funeral process and the subsequent prayer meeting.
The subject of Funral might appear serious but the trailer reveals that it is treated in a humorous and light-hearted manner. It appears like any other story of a group of friends trying their hand at a new business. Of course, they face some serious consequences later, as shown in the promo. The film also gives a dose of philosophy on the subject of death.
Welankar appears confident and the right fit for the role. One can also notice the great camaraderie between the four friends. Newcomer Tanvi Barve, who plays Welankar’s love interest, makes a brief appearance.
Written and produced by Ramesh Maruti Dighe and distributed by Panorama Studios, Funral will be released in theatres on 10 June.
