Akshay Kumar’s collaboration with Chandraprakash Dwivedi to continue after Prithviraj

There is a good deal of anticipation around the upcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer Samrat Prithviraj (2022), directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Right from the grandeur of its setting to the visual appeal, Samrat Prithviraj is expected to hit the ball right out of the park.

But going by what all the members of the cast and crew say, it is the director's attention to detail that remains the film’s highlight. In fact, his leading man has been mightily impressed with the director and his vision. So impressed, in fact, that he has got Dwivedi to join two other projects of his as creative director.

Akshay Kumar said, “I have a man who has researched the film for 18 years. He doesn’t take creative liberties. He has gone by the book Prithviraj Raso by Chand Bardai. There is no scope for error. I was so impressed that he has been taken as creative director on two of my films – OMG: Oh My God 2! and Ram Setu.”

The actor said he did not add a single word or dialogue in Samrat Prithviraj. “I had to even ask him where he wanted me to have pauses," Akshay Kumar said. "I used to say the exact words that were written. You cannot mess up with a single word, because everything is so well-researched.”

Interestingly, Chandraprakash Dwivedi is still remembered and appreciated for his 1991 television serial Chanakya on Doordarshan, India's government-owned television channel. He not only directed the serial, but also played the titular role. The serial became a cult hit for its extensive research.

Samrat Prithviraj is set to hit theatres on 3 June.
