The Punjabi-language feature Maa, starring Gippy Grewal, Divya Dutta, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Babbal Rai, will be released in theatres on 6 May, around Mother’s Day. A song from the film ‘Bhabhi’ has been released. The number features music by Desi Crew while Happy Raikoti is credited as the lyricist and composer.

Sung by the famous duo Sardool Sikander and Amar Noorie, the setting of the song is a wedding performance where Ghuggi is getting married.

Legendary Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander is well-known for his tune and style of singing. Beginning his career in the 1980s, his prolific career saw him produce 25 albums in his almost-30-year music career. He worked in Punjabi films and sang several songs with his wife and co-singer, Amar Noorie. In February 2021, Sikander tested positive for COVID and was undergoing treatment at a hospital, when he died.

‘Bhabhi’ is a happy wedding song, with a bit of teasing and leg-pulling that is woven into the lyrics. The singing duo appear on a small stage, the kind often seen in villages during a music performance. Prince Kanwaljit Singh and Rana Ranbir also make an appearance in the song, dancing and being a part of the festivities. However, there is some disturbance as two drunk revellers come in and become a bit of a nuisance during the performance.
