Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan finally gets clean chit from NCB in drug case

Shah Rukh Khan's older son Aryan got a clean chit from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday in connection with the alleged drug raid on a yacht off the coast of Mumbai on 2 October 2021.

The 24-year-old star kid was taken into custody with some others for alleged possession of narcotic drugs and spent the next 28 days in custody. He only got bail from the Bombay high court on 28 October and was released from prison two days later.

All the suspects held in the raid on the cruise ship, with the exception of Aryan Khan and Mohak Jaiswal, were found to be in possession of narcotics, NCB deputy director general (operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh said in a statement.

'Based on an input, NCB Mumbai on 02.10.2021 intercepted Vikrant, Ishmeet, Arbaaz, Aryan and Gomit at International Port Terminal, MbPT, and Nupur, Mohak and Munmun at the Cordelia cruise. All the accused persons were found in possession of narcotics except Aryan and Mohak,' a press release from the anti-drug agency said.

The note added, 'Based on the investigation carried out by the SIT [special investigation team set up by the NCB to probe the case], a complaint against 14 persons under various sections of the NDPS [Narcotic Drugs and Pyschotropic Substances] Act is being filed. Complaint against remaining six persons is not being filed due to lack of sufficient evidence.”

The SIT found that several irregularities were committed by the NCB team when raiding the yacht. According to some reports, the Union ministry of home affairs has ordered a probe against former NCB Mumbai zonal head Sameer Wankhede for the “shoddy investigation”.

The NCB said it recovered 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA and Rs1,33,000 in cash during the raid. None of these narcotics were recovered from Aryan Khan.

The case was transferred to the SIT on 6 November after some allegations were made against Wankhede. On 28 March the agency filed an application before a special NDPS court seeking more time to file a charge sheet.
