Rana Ranbir’s upcoming Punjabi feature takes an in-depth look at the menace hollowing out the youth of Punjab.

The drug menace in Punjab and its devastating effects on its populace are well known.

Rana Ranbir’s upcoming Punjabi-language feature Posti, starring Babbal Rai, Surilie Gautam, Prince KJ Singh and Rana Ranbir, humanizes this issue by showing us its impact on the lives of people.

The film's trailer begins with Prince KJ Singh playing a drug addict who sits around and seems to do nothing. Meanwhile, as an educated man, Babbal Rai's character finds it hard to get a job worthy of his qualifications. The double impact of lack of opportunities and the free availability of drugs is a double-edged sword that is seen as impacting the youth in a heinous manner. Another drug addict, portrayed by Rana Ranbir, fritters away his wife’s salary on narcotics without a care in the world.

The film strongly criticizes government apathy and blatant opportunism, which has only made matters worse in the state. We see the nexus between drug peddlers, rehabilitation centres and politicians preying on drug addicts. This is sure to be a hard-hitting film dealing with real issues.

In addition to writing and directing the film, Ranbir has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Posti is being produced by Gippy Grewal and Ravneet Kaur Grewal. The film will be released in theatres on 17 June.
