Shilpa Thakre, who has been a part of Marathi films such as Perfume (2018), Khichik (2019) and Ibhrat (2020), will now star opposite newcomer Soham Chakankar in the romantic drama Tu Ani Me, Me Ani Tu. The actress's involvement was revealed by the first title poster for the film which features both leads in an autorickshaw. Except for the fact that it is a romantic drama, the makers haven't revealed anything about the plot.
The film is directed by first-time filmmaker Kapil Jondhale and produced by Sagar Jain, Raju Todsam and Rushabh Kothari. The film's story and screenplay have been written by Nitin Suryavanshi while the musical score has been composed by Prashant Satore.
Soham Chakankar is the son of Rupali Chakankar, former state president of the women’s wing of the Nationalist Congress Party, who was also present for the poster launch.
Speaking about her son making his debut as an actor, Rupali Chakankar said, "Many thanks to the producers, directors and team of this film for giving my son the opportunity to make his debut in this field. Just as I entered politics when I had no legacy, my son Soham decided to pursue a career in acting on his own when no one from the Chakankar family was in the field.
"Since my background is political, during the shooting, Soham requested me that I should not come on the set even by mistake because the whole team would be under pressure."
Soham thanked his director for giving him the opportunity. "First of all, I would like to thank director Kapil Jondhale for the encouragement he gave me," the newcomer said. "My team was so supportive when I came to shoot for the first time that I never realized I was new to the field. I learnt a lot from Kapil Jondhale's workshops and the guidance he gave me, and my interest in acting grew. I want to achieve a lot and will work hard."
