Anuraag Pati’s debut feature film Prapti tells the story of a married woman’s longing for her former lover.

The visually rich trailer offers glimpses of the storyline, which is based on late Bengali author Buddhadeb Guha’s story of the same title.

Prapti stars Samadarshi Dutta, Pratyusha Roslin, Debdut Ghosh and Ananya Pal Bhattacharya.

The visuals of the trailer repeatedly highlight the location of Bari, a region in Bihar, in different seasons, making it quite clear that the place plays a crucial role in the story. While Shoma (Roslin) keeps awaiting a reply to the letters she sends to her beloved Bedey Da (Dutta), her husband Sunanda (Ghosh) keeps trying to better their relationship. He also suggests she become a mother to get rid of her loneliness. One day none other than Bedey Da suddenly arrives on the scene.

Their conversation hints at an unusual romantic union. Before Bedey Da takes his leave, they celebrate their love for each other, despite knowing that they are not meant to be together.

The trailer also hints at a subplot involving a local child who keeps waiting for the bus.

While the visuals and pace come across as quite poetic, Roslin's dialogue delivery and performance seem sluggish.

Prapti received the Hiralal Sen Memorial Award for the Special Jury Award in the Indian Languages' Films Category at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival. The film is also one of the official selections at the Imagine India Film Festival, which is being held in Madrid, Spain from 23 September to 9 October.

Prapti will be released in theatres on 10 June.
