Nivin Pauly's much-awaited political thriller Padavettu will be released in theatres on 2 September.

The actor took to Instagram to announce the release date and share a new poster, which depicts him behind a barbed-wire fence with a dagger in his hand. There are also three old men behind him.

The political thriller also stars Shine Tom Chacko, Aditi Balan, Shammi Thilakan, Manoj Omen and Remya Suresh.

The film was making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, after its director, Liju Krishna, was arrested on the sets of Padavettu, during the final shooting schedule for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman.

Though Padavettu is Liju’s first feature-length movie, he has made a few award-winning short films.

Padavettu has been co-produced by actor Sunny Wayne.

Meanwhile, Nivin is awaiting the release of his period action drama Thuramukham, which is set to arrive in cinemas on 3 June.
