Souvik Kundu’s upcoming film Aay Khuku Aay, starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Ditipriya Roy, depicts a failed artiste’s journey of turning into a responsible father.
In the teaser, Chatterjee reveals that of all the characters he has played in his career, the one of a father has never left him.
The trailer revolves around a villager, who earns his living by impersonating Prosenjit Chatterjee at local programmes and stays with his only daughter Buri (Roy).
Buri often asks him to update his act, by essaying a new-age actor instead of his 'guru'. Her father, who also performs the role of a homemaker and Buri’s mother, dismisses the proposal with a laugh.
Problems arise when he comes to know that Buri secretly participates in dance practice sessions and dreams of turning into a stage performer. After he confronts her, Buri tries to hold up a mirror to her father, telling him that not everyone is a failure like him.
The visuals also suggest that Buri eventually goes against her father and while attempting to achieve her dreams, she gets sexually assaulted. His daughter’s miserable condition eventually pushes him to shake off his image as a coward and prove his worth.
The long trailer not only reveals the entire storyline but also discloses much about a subplot concerning a political conspiracy related to the perpetrator of the crime. While Roy looks quite promising, Chatterjee seems to be in a melodramatic avatar in this predictable story.
Aay Khuku Aay is slated for a theatrical release on 17 June.
