The UK-based film company The Production Headquarters has unveiled the first look of its 115-minute drama Footprints On Water at the India Pavilion at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

The film marks the directorial debut of Nathalia Syam.

Screenwriter Neetha Syam won the fifth prize in the Cinestaan India's Storytellers Contest for this particular script.

Footprints On Water stars Adil Hussain, Nimisha Sajayan, Lena Kumar and British actor Antonio Akeel. The project is currently in the post-production stage.

A statement from the makers read, “The gritty, realistic drama charts the travails of Raghu, an illegal immigrant in the UK after his daughter goes missing.”

The Production Headquarters also have two other films lined up — Rat On A Highway and 36 Gunn.

The former film, which stars Randeep Hooda and is being directed by Vivek Chouhan, is about an advertising professional and how he lands in a pickle after an accident on the highway.

The latter film, a Marathi project is being directed by Samit Kakkad, stars Santosh Juvekar and Purva Pawar.

Mohaan Nadaar of The Production Headquarters said in a statement, “The idea is to bring struggles to the screen in a way that it imitates life. In some cases, the issues raised may be intensely personal and local, but the treatment, the locations, the production values and the marketing will help place them on the global map. [The] Production Headquarters works with the idea that no matter which country it showcases, cinema is international.”

Ketki Pandit, a partner at the firm, said, “The idea is to go global with stories rooted in India. Apart from these three films, we are already working on building a slate with a few more films that are already in the pre-production stage.”
