X=Prem trailer: A desperate attempt to save a love story with a scientific experiment

A love story turns into a thriller in Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming film X=Prem (2022) starring Arjun Chakraborty, Anindya Sengupta, Shruti Das and Madhurima Basak.

The film sees a desperate attempt to save a love story with a unique scientific experiment.

The teaser had already revealed that Khilaat (Sengupta) meets with an accident and loses the previous 10 years of his memory, including that of his romantic association with Joyee (Das).

In the trailer, as the doctor suggests that his memory can be retrieved from someone who has loved Joyee, the narrative of Arnab (Chakraborty) and Aditi (Basak) emerges.

In college, while Joyee would be indulging in romantic liaisons with Khilaat without a care, Arnab would wistfully admire her from a distance. A loner, he would long for Joyee from the core of his heart but never take the step to express his feelings for her. Years later, Arnab has settled in marriage with Aditi, who is aware of his longing. But the past returns to unsettle his life when Khilaat decides to rekindle his love with Arnab’s memory.

While Aditi objects to this experiment with her husband, Khilaat and Joyee deal with the uncertainty of success in the attempt. Besides the complications from the experiment, the trailer hints at many more twists and the suggestion of a tragic ending. While the romantic visuals are refreshing, only the film will reveal if Mukherji has been able to do justice to the thriller angle.
