After earning an impressive Rs9.21 crore nett on the first weekend itself, Amarjit Singh Saron’s Punjabi movie Saunkan Saunkne (2022) ended the first week strongly with a total collection of Rs16.50 crore nett, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The film starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta and Nimrat Khaira passed the all-important Monday test by collecting Rs2.20 crore nett and maintained its grip through the week.

Saunkan Saunkne missed the mark for highest first-week collection by a Punjabi movie by a whisker. The record is held by Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa and Sonam Bajwa's Shadaa (2019), which made Rs17 crore in its first week in cinemas.

The second position on the list was earlier held by Carry On Jatta 2 (2018). The film had finished its first week with Rs16.25 crore.

Meanwhile, two major Hindi films were released today: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dhaakad. The response for the former, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, has been good so far. But Dhaakad, an action film starring Kangana Ranaut, made a poor start to the day.
