Director Parasuram has earned the wrath of netizens after defending a controversial scene from his latest film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata. The scene in question shows lead actor Mahesh Babu making Keerthy Suresh lie next to him and putting his leg on her.
Sarkaru Vaari Paata review: Mahesh Babu carries this mostly entertaining film single-handedly
Sarkaru Vaari Paata has grossed over Rs170 crore worldwide and still running in certain theatres.
In a post-release media interaction, Parasuram said he didn’t find anything vulgar in the artistes' scenes together, stating, “What exactly is the issue with that scene? In my opinion, it's similar to a child wanting to sleep with his mother. Also, if that scene is so problematic, wouldn't Mahesh have asked me to remove it?"
Netizens, however, were far from convinced.
One Twitter user wrote, “Mother and wife are never equal, in any aspect. What an incestuous way to defend it. Agree on the mistake and move on, man (sic).”
Another tweeted, “Can men stop comparing partners to moms (sic).”
Yet another user wrote in Telugu that the director's explanation was worse than the scene itself.

The film marked the maiden collaboration between Mahesh Babu and Parasuram.
