Veteran actress Prema Kiran, who starred in major Marathi films in the 1980s and 1990s, died of a heart attack yesterday morning in Mumbai. She was 61.
The actress is best remembered for her performances in films such as Dhum Dhadaka (1984), and De Danadan (1987) where she was paired opposite Laxmikant Berde.
Some of her other Marathi films are Kashasathi Premasathi (1987), Gavran Gangu (1989), Mahercha Aaher (1993), Maza Chhakula (1994), Saubhagyawati Sarpanch (2000), Chatur Navra Chinkni Bayko (2004) and Lagnachi Varaat Londonchya Gharat (2009).
She also acted in Hindi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Banjari films and produced the box office hits Utawala Navara (1989) and Tharkaap (2003).
Prema Kiran's last big-screen appearance was in Roheet Rao Narsinge's Story Of Laagira (2022).
